If I want to see the snow I'll drive a couple hours knowing full well I can easily escape. I think your mom is talking about Japanese Maples, we have one that we killed and then we gave it to my mom where it came back to life, died and is now coming back to life again.Peter and Mandyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15960047669865902608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3323877725642990011.post-20463541385601242232008-09-23T18:53:00.000-04:002008-09-23T18:53:00.000-04:00I enjoyed this post. Remember the ones at the Stake Center that look like Maple leaves? Some people have them in their yards. You know it's fall here too when they start to turn and it gets cooler in the winter. If you want even more of a fall change you only have to drive to Julian. I'll stick with the trees at the stake center and what I see on my walks. Your tree is very pretty though. I'm glad you like your neighbourhood. It's always good if you like where you live. P.S. If you don't know Irene's email why don't you just text me or email her phone number and I'll get it so I can mail this assignment to her. So jealous you have one in your own yard! Looks like the area you are in was aptly named. : DLynnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17650386366226859611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3323877725642990011.post-66600191607063938482008-09-23T14:14:00.000-04:002008-09-23T14:14:00.000-04:00actually ... It is beautiful and the chilly evenings are a bit refreshing. I'll bet you always wondered why a leaf changes color. The green of course is caused by the chlorophyll, when the days shorten there isn't enough sun to keep the chlorophyll going so it disappears and the leaf is naturally yellow. When the cold causes the sugars in the leaf to break down it turns them red but if there isn't enough sugar in the leaf then the garbage in the leaf decays and turns it brown. Just in case you were interested.Fred ...https://www.blogger.com/profile/03428162891968209590noreply@blogger.com
