My opinion is ....

There was a discussion that I had to leave the other day.
If I could get pregnant I could never abort a child regardless of any problems that I knew the baby would face. I completely understand if someone doesn't want to live a life with a handicap ... it is hard ... I know. My opinion is that if you choose to make a baby you no longer have the right to decide if the baby lives or not. If you decide that the life will be too difficult for you place the baby with a family that will welcome that child for the special person they are. I know that I take it very personally because I have a baby that many would have aborted. I can't imagine my life without my sweet Evan!! I think everyone is entitled to an opinion and this is my opinion.

My opinion is exactly the same! And, I can't imagine your life without Evan. It's been 2 years since I've seen him, but I love that little guy!

AMEN KIRA!!!! The genetic doctor said to me, "Your chances have now gone up for the chance to have another child with down syndrome, but you can get tested so you have a choice to terminate." I stopped him right there and said, I'm not going to be tested in the future, and we would NEVER consider abortion! We just love em' how ever they come to us! (He was like... okay, next topic!)

That would be a hard conversation to sit and listen to. I agree with you also. Steve and I didn't take any of the "tests" becuase we would not terminate if something was wrong we would just love that child and deal with it when the time came. Thanks for sharing your feelings... and you are SO right about little Evan.. life would not be the same without that little guy. His smile brightens any ones day that see's him.

I totally and completely agree. It is sad to think people do not think they could handle the responsibility though...I mean, I am sure it is a scary situation to be in. Intimidating even. But I think it is the parents responsibility. God brings these beautiful children into people's lives for a reason. They are blessings, not problems.

I totally agree.

And let me take it one step further.

I do not believe that if someone was even FORCED to get pregnant that it's their right to abort. Give that baby to someone else to raise and let that innocent child live, even if you can't live with the fact that you were forced to conceive.

That's just my opinion.

Yep. You're right on with your opinion. I would've knocked some people out :) I wish the whole world could see how much you love Evan and how happy he makes you and how much he loves you, just through your pictures and posts. What a lucky, lucky boy!

Agree. There are two lives to consider and one life should not decide the demise of the other. Adoption is a beautiful thing. I heard a country song back in December just after I miscarried and in part of it the girl was headed to a clinic to abort the baby she and her boyfriend had made the beginnings of, but as she sat there, she got a call from her boyfriend telling her not to do it and that he'd be there for them. I cried thinking of all the women that want to mother babies and don't get to and and all those that will live with the guilt of aborting one. It's a very real issue and adoption needs to be out in the open so much more! There was a talk by Elder (Doctor) Nelson about adoption and in it he added that giving up a baby for adoption is part of the repentance process for fornication--of course, his words are way better, I'm just remembering it.
