Canadian Thanksgiving and the first snow

Yup, that's right, you heard me say it. We had the first snow ... but I get ahead of myself.

Yesterday was Canadian Thanksgiving. Justin and I worked two weddings at the restaurant this weekend, and since everyone was gathering at Mark and Lanny's for Thanksgiving we stayed there the whole weekend.

Thanksgiving was relaxing (which is always the best) and Jared made this INCREDIBLE pumpkin cake. I was worried that i was missing out on Bum Pie (Pumpkin Pie), but I was pleasantly surprised. :-) We watched a happy movie called Ballet Slippers and talked.

Then this morning I woke up to snow. I was kind of excited, kind of in awe, and nervous about what is to come. It was a very light snow and fortunately it mostly melted by late afternoon. I did take a picture of it, but it is on my mother-in-law's camera so I don't have it to post. Oh well.

The nice thing about Calgary is you wait 15 minutes and the weather will change. Besides it's not Winter yet.

It may not be winter yet but it's still snow and there will be more of it including cold. We are definitley spoiled here and I don't blame Sarah when she says "I'm not going to college where it snows!"

Hey I got a random question for Canadians. Some of the foods and sweets you eat in Canada are the same as what I ate in South Africa. Do you eat Pumpkins? I'm trying to convince Jen that pumpkins are for eating and not for carving ... she gags every time. It's almost like a pumpkin is a family pet, and its a crime to bake it up and put it on your plate. I'm confused ... Do you eat your pumpkins?

I'm glad it doesn't snow here, I don't do well with the cold. My co-workers like to keep the air conditioning on full blast in our building. It's pretty pathetic when I have to go to work with long sleeves and a jacket during hot santa ana weather....I think we'll visit sometime when there is no chance of snow. What months are those?

In Alberta I have seen snow in every month of the year.
