string of consciousness

The other day I was told my blog was written as my very own string of consciousness. I actually can see how this description would suit my blog well because I do write what I feel, what I am thinking and don't hold very much back. Along these lines ..........

Sometimes I wonder what is wrong with my brain. Just when I think I have it all together I am slapped across the face with a reminder that I don't!! True I have to keep track of more things than the average mom (medicine twice a day, physical therapy, etc.) but honestly there are many other moms in the exact same boat as me who don't cause their families and others lots of money and stress because they lose and forget things. I feel like a child again and hope that I will get it together someday.

This isn't a sympathy post, I just needed to vent about myself.

a word to the wise

Just in case anyone was wondering ...

Running 6 miles an hour after eating a large carne asada burrito is not a good idea. The before mentioned carne asada burrito feels like a brick in your stomach, the 6 miles feels like 10 and every burp along the way makes you want to throw up!

On the up side, an ice cold otter pop after a warm, miserable, 6 mile run is greatly satisfying!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Evan pooped yesterday (which is a big deal because of his SMA) and it was HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe that it came out of my tiny 2 1/2 year old. He looked at it and proudly proclaimed "It looks like an alligator Mama!"

From Sea to Shining Sea

The sad sad day came to leave Florida, but luckily for me I'm still on vacation!!!!!!!!!!

My brother is leaving on a mission for our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints) and his farewell is this weekend. Justin had to get back to work and couldn't come, but I am so excited to spend this week with my family in San Diego. It will be a nice vacation from my vacation : )

I want to blog about our Florida trip as I will now have a bit more time (seeing as Landon wants to stay on East Coast time).

I need everyone's opinion though. Would you rather have vacation updates now sans pictures OR wait until I am able to load some pictures. Let me know.

Oh my!!!

Maybe it is because my kids were up earlier than normal. Maybe it was a result of the two (yes I said two) eternal zits on my face. I just DID NOT care to get ready. I just didn't feel like getting out of my PJ's so I put on shlumpy Mama clothes. My comfy outfit suited me just fine until I went to my physical therapy appointment ...

Because of the time I went for the appointment I was seeing a different doctor that I usually see. There I am sitting on the table and a VERY attractive, handsome, sexy doctor walks into the room.

I suddenly became painfully aware of my shlumpy clothes, eternal zits, lack of makeup, greasy hair, and shiny skin!!!! Talk about BUMMER!!!!

I was feeling really bummed about my encounter. Justin got home from work, we ate dinner as a family, and then I went for a run. The weather wasn't too cold, but chilly enough that I put on my running tights, and a fleecy top. About 3 miles into the run an old pick up slows down as it drives by and this guy literally hangs his head out of the window totally checking me out!!!

Thank goodness I was blessed with great legs
totally made me feel better!

Happy Mother's Day

I am so blessed to have the mother that I do. She is a strong woman who taught me to be strong. She will tirelessly fight for each of her children (and husband) to succeed. She is our greatest alli and defender. She has wicked research skills and can find information (whether it be schooling, disease, etc.) better and faster than anyone I know. She is beautiful beyond belief and I am honored to call her Mom.
I love you Mom!

I am blessed with two mother in laws and I am grateful for each of them. I am grateful that I live near both of them ... though I don't see them nearly enough.

I love you Lanny and Lori!

I am triple rich in the Grandmother department and couldn't be luckier! I want each one of my beautiful Grandmothers to know that my love for them can't be measured!

I honor, respect, and love you more than words can say.

Finally, I am grateful to be a mother! I am humbled to be doubly "chosen" to raise these children. I love my kids more than anything in the world. My gratitude for moments like these are beyond words!!!

To all the mothers out there ....
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

Evan:

I can't believe that my sweet Evan is almost 3 years old!!! When did that happen?? He cracks me up all the time and I love that he still loves to cuddle and kiss :-) Currently Evan is very attatched to Daddy.

Evan loves to sing and keeps a pretty good tune for being 2 yrs. old. He also has a very good memory for lyrics. He made up a song the other day about butterflies. It went like this ...

"I love butterflies. They are so beautiful. I eat them."

then he proceeded to get excited and say "Daddy have a butterfly on his head, member?? Daddy had a butterfly on his head and I cry ... whaaa whaaaa (then he started giggling)"

Evan loves Lady Gaga! Whenever a Lady Gaga song is on he gets very excited and announces that it is Lady Gaga. Unfortunately he can't tell the difference between Lady Gaga and Keshia. :-)

The other day Justin was trying to get Evan to say please for something. This is how the conversation preceeded. Justin: "what is the magic word??" Evan: "Hocus Pocus"

Landon:

Landon has hit the clingy stage. Now I know this stage is hard for observers, babysitters, day care at the gym, but I have to admit that I love it! I love knowing that I am the most important person in Landon's life. I love that he prefers me to everyone else. I love that he needs me! It makes it a little difficult to cook, but mostly it is great.

Another, not so cute, stage that Landon has reached is the screaching stage. I wish I could truly depict his high pitched screach and how irritating it is. He just randomly screaches and then Evan starts responding and I swear that there are times the two of them are egging eachother on that I feel I need to be checked into the loony bin. My friend said that they curbed the screaching habit in each of their kids by blowing in their face. The next time Landon screached I tried it and .... he LAUGHED!!! He thought it was the funniest thing ever, which of course led to more screaching (backfire).

He is finally sleeping!!! (knock on wood)

This baby moose is a baby of habit and it makes me laugh! I know this is why we had such a difficult time getting him to sleep (he was just used to waking up). Every morning he drinks 5 ounces of formula. I can put 8 or 6 ounces in the bottle and he drinks exactly 5. If I put in 4 ounces he will scream for more and drink 1 more ounce and leave it. About an hour later he drinks the rest.

Landon really is in such an addicting baby stage. He is crazy active, constantly on the move, destructive, and my house is in constant turmoil, but he has such a personality, laughs easily, smiles constantly and is one of the happiest babies I know. I still adore his chunk and I actually I can't help but squeeze him and nibble on him.

My Blind Date

It is true, I went on a blind date (set up by friends) today. I, Kira, (mother of Evan [who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy], wife of Justin) had lunch with Kira (mother of Nevan [who has Muscular Dystrophy], sister of Justin).

My friend has a friend, who has a friend with my name, and too many other similarities for us to not meet (not to mention a far too complicated second connection that we have). Us Kiras spoke on the phone to set up a lunch date. Our boys got along really well and it was so fun!! I think we just might have another friend in our life.

p.s. She is the first Kira that I have met who is older than me. :-)

I HAD to get a picture of her daughter in this adorable hat!!!

I HATE THIS

I try to see the good in all things, but as much as I try I see no good in this picture. I truly, royally, absolutely hate being an eskimo!!! Fine I will deal with the cold, I will deal with winter (even if I don't want to) but seriously ... it is May!!! I am soooo going to enjoy my time down south in two weeks!! Get me out of this!!

Boys will be Boys

I had a very busy day and didn't even have the chance to sit down until 9:30pm. I came home to this and just had to smile :-)

My nephews (and the rest of Justin's family) was over for dinner. We just adore our nephews and Evan can't get enough of his cousins. I had to leave early for stake choir rehearsal, but coming home to this I can just imagine how much fun all of our boys were having together :-)

For Easter, Nana and I were getting last minute supplies and came across this awesome book to help potty train boys. There is a special story that you read while they are going potty and they only get to wear their special pirate hat while they are sitting on the potty. If they successfully go potty they get to put a sticker on their hat. Evan is just so cute and the second picture is of him sword fighting with one of the sword stickers he got. (I am usually instructed to play the part of Peter Pan and he is always captain Hook)

Evan is at the age that he is very fascinated by his privates. He started to list everyone in the family that has a penis. He included me in that list. I told him that only boys have penis' and that Mama is a girl so I don't have one. Today (while going potty) he announces. "Evan have a penis, Daddy have a penis, Wandon have a penis, but Mama no have penis." Evan, Daddy, Wandon, nnooooo Mama."

Evanism: Hamburger = "Han-co-co"

Landon also has a fascination with the Potty. This is a common sight in our home right now.
p.s. Landon took a first step!!! It was just one (he went from my leg to the chair) but it was clearly a step!!

Reflections of Christ

I wanted to share how powerful these photographs are that we saw at the "Reflections of Christ" exhibit. There were so many images so I swiped three of my very favorites off the internet. If you ever get the chance to see this exhibit you have to!!!!

I love this one because it reminds me that God can heal anything
I love this one because of the joy in their embrace. This is how I imagine the scene of John the Baptist baptizing Jesus to be like ... pure JOY!
I would love to put this up in my home to remind us to always turn to Christ
