I CANNOT BELIEVE IT!!! I don't even know how to start this post! I'm sure I am not even going to be able to say it the way I want to.
Tonight Evan and I were waiting for an hour and a half to get our flu shots. We were sitting on the kid size chairs watching Sesame Street and Evan wanted to stand. I was helping to support his weight so that he could stand. I was looking the other direction, wondering what number they were calling, and I hear Evan say "look Mama ... stand". I look down and CANNOT believe my eyes. Evan had slid himself off the chair and while leaning on the chair for support was standing all by himself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think this has happened as a result of a couple different things. When we started the medicine in June Evan did get some strength back. Evan received his leg braces a couple of weeks ago. I think that wearing the leg braces has helped train his legs to hold a little bit more weight without collapsing. Obviously we need to be right there, as his legs will give out at any moment. This is just so amazing!
We came home and promptly showed Daddy our new ability. We couldn't be happier!

How absolutely wonderful. This is so cool. All your hard work in therapy etc. is paying off. I never thought I would see a picture of Evan standing with no help. Congratulations.

Way to go Evan. HE looks so proud of himself. I can't tell you how much this photo just makes me want to squeeze him tight. He is so cute.

Wow!!! That is amazing! I am so proud of him and you. You've worked hard at PT and I know that has helped. I didn't know that Evan got leg braces. You never told me. You'll have to tell me more about them. Tell Evan Grandma is proud of him!! :)
I also forgot to say how cute the picture is and how proud Evan looks as he should :)

I had a good feeling after watching you with Evan on that first visit to Children's and the pool session later in the week. I am very proud of both you and Justin in the way the two of you have approached Evan's situation. Evan is much stronger for it. Give him a Big Hug for Nanna and I.
what a great day! it's pretty amazing isn't it?! Our Evan does this when his bum is at the edge of a chair and his braces definately help him confidence and support-wise. Was Evan wearing his braces when he stood all by himself? way to go buddy!!! we love you bunches!!!!
um so I know I already commented on this earlier today, just wanted to say again how HAPPY I AM. I have been thinking about it all day since I read it and so I had to leave another comment saying YAY EVAN! :) YAY YAY YAY!!!!!
WOW Kira that is so awesome!!! I am so happy for you and your whole family and little Evan!!! CONGRATS!!! I miss seeing you and all of your family. Sometimes college really stinks because you can't see the family and friends you love all the time like I did before!!! haha but Congrats again and I love and miss you
I like the picture because of how old Evan looks in it. It's hard to get a sense of how much he has grown until you see him stretched out like that.
Yay Evan! Congratulations!
So cool!
