Family comes: DAY 3

This day we went to the Calgary Zoo, which I actually love! Though it is definitely not as nice as the San Diego zoo, it has its own personal charm that I thought my family might enjoy. The best exhibit right now are the dinosaurs!! Right now the dinos that are on display actually move and rawr!! Evan now knows that they are robots and was trying to feed this one a cookie. Sydney wasn't really a fan and Hayley slept through this part. Some of Justin's family came for a little bit also and it was really cool to see all of my nieces and nephews (from both sides) in one place.

We took our time enjoying the park and eventually my Grandpa met up with us in the zoo. Grandpa Shaw drove all the way from British Columbia to come and spend some time with us. I love him and love that he came and spent some of our vacation with us.

I love these pictures that my dad caught. Evan loves the zoo and loves learning ... I think both of these capture that side of his personality well.

Grandpa and his girls :-)

BY FAR my favorite thing this day was when we lost Grandpa Shaw and Evan. I run back to try and find them and this is what I found. I just watched the beautiful sight from a distance. Grandpa bought Evan some duck feed and took him to feed the birds in the pond. I don't think Grandpa even knew that Evan's favorite animals at the zoo are the ducks. I could tell from the look on Evan's face that this was a really special thing for him, and I can tell you that it is going down as one of those memories that I will always cherish.

I had a blast spending some quality time with my nieces and Auntie Alycia figured out one of the fun qualities to having a wheel chair in the family.

On the way back to the car Evan wanted to sit on my lap ... so we figured out this arrangement.
I sat, and he drove (he is a better driver than me anyway) and he was so excited to do this for me ... in fact he has asked to drive me a couple times since this. I think it is so much fun to bond with him like this.

By the end of the day both my boys were EXHAUSTED, but sleep was beyond Evan.

We went to Peter's for burgers, witnessed a REALLY bad car accident, drove home, chilled with Grandpa, and got ready to see .....
ECLIPSE 12AM!!!!!
OMGsh, it was SOOO GOOOOOD!!!
I loved going with my family and had the BEST time!!!! Justin would have come, but someone had to watch the kids and you know I wasn't going to volunteer to stay home :-)

we're going to make Serene a shirt like ours. She wasn't a Twi-hard when Mom had these made, but now that she has converted we are going to get one for her.
