Family comes: DAY 6

July 3, 2010
LANDON'S SEALING

Today was the day that everyone came for!!!! It was a day that we have been looking forward to since August 4, 2009. It was the day that we were sealed to our baby Landon! In our church we believe that families can be eternal. When we are married in the temple we are married for time and all eternity, there is no till death do we part.

A sealing performed in the temple continues forever if the husband and wife are faithful to the covenants they make. Children born to parents who have been sealed in the temple are born in the covenant. When we adopt our children we have the opportunity to take them to the temple, after the adoption is finalized, to be sealed to us.

The day was amazing!! We drove to the temple and carried our boys inside. Evan didn't want to leave us so I went to the nursery with the women who would be helping them. Once he saw that they had toys and cookies he was fine! I went back to Justin and signed the necessary paper work. I went to the brides room where the temple workers fussed over me, making sure that I looked perfect for our special day.

Dressed in white I met my hubby and we walked to the sealing room hand in hand. I couldn't stop smiling and my joy only increased as our family and friends began walking in the room. The sealer talked about the eternal nature of families and the blessings of children. Justin was the first one to need the box of kleenex and I quickly joined him.

The next thing I knew the door slowly opened and our two babies came into the room reverent as can be. Evan smiled a big smile and said "Hi Mama!" Landon (an angel in white) just looked around the room in awe. Justin led me by the hand to the alter where we were sealed to our Landon for time and all eternity! Through the entire ceremony Landon was smiling at Justin and I. He didn't try and move, he didn't squirm at all! Once the ceremony was over we got to hold both our boys and look into the mirror at our eternal family!

When everyone came by to congratulate us Landon and Evan were sooo good!!! Landon narrated the whole thing and just kept everyone smiling and laughing! It was so special to have our families there with us, and Landon's birth family as well! I will never forget each face, each hug that passed through that line. I will never forget the love that I felt in the temple that day!

I cannot even begin to describe how I felt that day, how I feel now! I have been given so much by my Heavenly Father! I have been blessed to find a man of God, who loves his family and has a testimony of his Heavenly Father's plan. I have been blessed with two perfect angels who fill my days with so much joy!! I have been blessed to be connected with angels through adoption who have taught me what a perfect love is. I know my Heavenly Father loves me!

After the sealing we invited everyone back to the cabin at Waterton for a luncheon. There were lots of people there, but it was very special for us to have Landon's birth parents come. We ate, we talked, and we basked in the love and joy of family. Landon's birth farther sang the songs he has written for Landon (one of them he read the words to at Landon's placement) and had everyone in tears. It is unbelievably difficult to truly express how much love and respect we feel for each of our 3 birth parents!

Needless to say .... it was a PERFECT day!

Beautiful! I can relate to your emotions written here in this post on every level. Adoption had touched so many of my family's lives....from my adopted siblings, nephew, to my cousin who was placed (and now been in contact with for the past three years) etc. It's a beautiful thing!
